Megan Lavin, DPT, M.Ed
Hi! My name is Megan Lavin and I'm the founder and executive director of Live RecoverED. I'm also a licensed physical therapist in the state of Wisconsin.
Having struggled with and recovered from an eating disorder, I'm passionate about helping others experience freedom and recovery. I'd love to support you with the physical aspects of your recovery journey from an ED-informed, weight neutral, and trauma-informed lens. Check out my areas of focus below!
Areas of Focus
All services will be provided via telehealth, initially services will only be available to Wisconsin residents.
Joyful Movement
Oftentimes when struggling with an eating disorders, movement can be compulsive and not enjoyable. Part of my practice is to help you to incorporate joyful movement into your life and to become more connected in your body.
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
Urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, bloating, abdominal discomfort, and pelvic organ prolapse can be common in individuals with eating disorders. My goal is to work with you to alleviate symptoms.
Chronic Pain
Muscle tension and chronic pain can common in individuals with eating disorders. We can work together to help relieve your pain.
My Practice Values
The below values inform how I provide my services.
Faith
Faith is the foundation of my life, and if interested, I'd be happy to incorporate this into our sessions such as scripture and breath prayer. I absolutely respect if this is not an area that you'd like incorporated into your sessions and will provide you with compassionate and respectful care regardless of your faith beliefs.
Weight Neutrality
Weight neutrality is an essential value of my work with individuals with eating disorders and body image struggles. You do not need to fear comments from me about your body size or shape, my services are provided from a weight neutral lens.
Embodiment & Empowerment
A sense of connectedness to ones body is so important and can be challenging while in recovery from an eating disorder. And it can feel powerless at times to struggle with an eating disorder. It is one of my priorities to help you experience a sense of safety and connectedness in your body and help you to feel empowered during your recovery journey. .
