Speaking Engagements  

Live RecoverED provides presentations and eating disorder  info sessions at no cost as costs are fundraised through the nonprofit. Please view the map below to view our speaking event locations since 2021.To view them in a list, please scroll to the bottom of the page.

Since 2021, Live RecoverED (formerly RecoverED Athletes) has spread the message of eating disorder awareness and the hope of full recovery to over 2400 individuals including:

  • 1800 athletes

  • 440 students 

  • 105 community members

  • 75 coaches

  • 50 educators

Megan Lavin, DPT, M.Ed.

Megan Lavin, Founder and Executive Director of Live RecoverED, travels and speaks to high school and collegiate athletes to share her story of full recovery from anorexia as a former student athlete. She also provides trainings on eating disorders to school mental health staff, coaches, athletic trainers, and physical therapy students. Megan Lavin is a physical therapist and has a Masters of Education in Health Education and Promotion with a concentration in Eating Disorders.

Megan has completed over 50 speaking events to over 2400 individuals. 

Current Presentations We Offer

Athletes & Eating Disorders

Topic: Specific information on eating disorders for athletes, includes warning signs/symptoms, negative effect on performance, how to create a healthy team atmosphere, supporting someone that is struggling, and how to seek help if struggling

Age Range: High School & College Age Students

Length: 40-60 minutes

Healthy Relationship with Food & Body Image

Topic: Information on body image and how to improve body image; include: eating disorder prevention information- increasing self esteem and body image, media literacy, rejecting perfectionism, equalizing all food (no food is good or bad), introduction to intuitive eating principles

Age Range: Middle School Age Students

Length: 30 minutes

Topic: Information on eating disorders along with how to seek help if struggling; includes information on eating disorder prevention- media literacy, improving self esteem and body image, intuitive eating principles introduction

Topic: General information on eating disorders (background information, signs/symptoms), information specific to the school setting, how to support students that are struggling *can include body project program training

Length: 2-4 hours

Coaches & Athletic Trainers Session

Topic: General information on eating disorders (background information, signs/symptoms), information specific to the athletic setting, how to support athletes that are struggling, how to create a healthy team atmosphere

Includes: Copy of the powerpoint presentation, flyers on eating disorders for athletics, list of eating disorder specific treatment in your area, summary page for coaches/athletic trainers

Physical Therapy Students Session
